ADVERTISING ON THIS SITE

If your business is BS27-based, simply send over a few lines of descriptive text, contact email, address and local telephone number, plus a link to your web site if you have one, and it will be added to the site free of charge. You can use the submission form for this. Check the business A-Z or accommodation listings to see what other people have written, if you need inspiration.

To give you some idea of the number of visitors this site receives, the green area of the graph below shows the number of weekly page loads over the period July 2005 to July 2006 - around 3000 pages viewed every week in summer, dropping to around 1000 in winter.

The upkeep of this site is funded by a small amount of paid advertising from businesses outside Cheddar. Please note that from time to time this may include adverts placed by the Google Adwords network, for competitor businesses to those listed in the A-Z section. This is a process over which this site has no control and it is not possible to filter these out.

If you have a local business, in Cheddar or the surrounding area, that is related to the subject matter of this web site, you can advertise on it more prominently simply by opening your own Google Adwords account (click logo for more details). You will be able to create an advert for your business which will often appear in the footer or margin of these pages and also on many other web sites that show Google adverts. Your ad will then also be shown to users of Google Search, Google Gmail, Froogle, and Google Desktop Search, as well as on the sites of Google's partner companies (including AOL, Lycos, and Ask Jeeves).

BANNERS - NEW

For Cheddar-based or strongly Cheddar-Village-related businesses there is also the possibility to have a 468x60 pixel banner advertisement on the top right of a page of your choosing (above the date and time). This will be created for you to your specification or we can use one you already have prepared (maximum banner file size 10K). The cost to sponsor one page in this way is £80 per year + VAT. Again contact Martin to set this up. You will have first refusal when renewal is due at the end of the year. From time to time, rather than leave space unfilled, the banner advertisement slots may be taken up on some pages by a default advertising campaign relating to the subject matter of that page, provided through an advertising network. These ads will be removed from that page if a local business wants the space.

LINK CHECKING

In the interest of ensuring this site remains the most useful resource for Cheddar residents and visitors, all external links from this site are checked on an automated basis, every month. So if a tourist attraction or other local facility's web site becomes inaccessible, the problem will be investigated and the link either removed or replaced within a few weeks. Also, if your own local business or club web site has a regular (non-Adwords) link from here, this monitoring process will pick up any problems with your hosting or domain name - and if it looks like a problem you need to know about, you'll be informed by email or phone. If you do however come across a broken link that has not yet been reported, by all means use the main contact form to send the details over.

This web site uses cookies - small text files of information - which are placed on visitors' computers during your time on the web site, to provide information about effectiveness of advertising, and also about how people navigate around the site and thus to help improve it for the future.
